Voigt berichtet Goethe am 22. April (der Brief ist irrtüml. datiert: 23. April): „Fichte hat mir gestern ein paar Worte geschrieben. Seine Weltweisheit scheint etwas abgespannt zu sein. Ich denke wohl, daß er die Enfants de la patrie satt haben wird.” („Goethes Briefwechsel mit Christian Gottlob Voigt” Weimar 1949 Bd. I, S. 179, Brief Nr. 140.)
